Look for the C suffix before you expect a chrome shell. AMSOIL Chrome Oil Filter uses EAOM103C, EAOM134C, and EAOM135C, which is one fewer part number than the black line. Only EAOM103C carries ATV and UTV applications, and it stands about 0.15 in. taller than the black EAOM103 with the same thread. Media, 99% efficiency at 20 microns, 11 to 17 psi bypass rating, and gasket material match the black equivalents, so the real choices are fitment, finish, and clearance.
Three numbers with a C
The C at the end of the code marks the chrome version. EAOM103C, EAOM134C, and EAOM135C make up the published line, and each carries its own application list. The suffix hangs off a base number, so EAOM103 and EAOM103C are related parts in different finishes.
EAOM103C is the only chrome number whose applications reach ATVs and UTVs. Its list also includes power equipment, lawn tractors, marine engines, motorcycles, and snowmobiles from Arctic Cat, Honda, Kawasaki, Komatsu, Kubota, Mercury, Polaris, Yamaha, and Yanmar. Still, your machine needs the lookup match.
EAOM134C and EAOM135C work a different territory, covering power equipment, lawn tractors, and motorcycles from BMW, Buell, Harley-Davidson, Indian, and Moto Guzzi. Neither listing reaches an ATV or a UTV. On a quad or a side-by-side the chrome question narrows to a single number, and that number is EAOM103C. The black line answers the same question with two.
No chrome EAOM109 exists
Check this before the order goes in. The black family includes EAOM109, an M20X1.0 filter listed for various ATVs, UTVs, motorcycles, and snowmobiles from Arctic Cat, Aprilia, Suzuki, and Yamaha. No chrome version of EAOM109 is published.
That gap is fitment, not paint. If the lookup returns EAOM109, there is no chrome option. EAOM103C does not substitute for it, because its M20X1.5 thread is a different pitch on the same 20 mm diameter. Forcing it risks the mount and the engine.
Check the taller shell
The chrome ATV-listed number is taller. EAOM103C measures 2.69 in. tall and 2.67 in. across, while black EAOM103 measures 2.54 in. tall and 2.68 in. across. Both use an M20X1.5 thread, so measure clearance around the mount before choosing the taller shell.
The larger chrome pair does not change dimensionally. EAOM134C and EAOM135C both measure 3.4 in. tall and 2.97 in. across on a 3/4-16 thread, matching their black counterparts. They differ by gasket inside diameter, 2.4 in. against 2.36 in., and by anti-drainback-valve fitment.
Filtration does not change with the finish
Nothing about the media changes with the shell. The chrome line carries the same advanced full-synthetic construction rated 99% efficient at 20 microns under ISO 4548-12, in a spin-on housing with a bypass relief valve rated at 11 to 17 psi across all three numbers. Those values are published for the line rather than varied part by part.
A silicone anti-drainback valve is fitted where applicable, and it stays flexible through temperature swings so the housing holds oil between shutdown and the next start. EAOM103C and EAOM134C are listed with one, and EAOM135C is listed without. A nitrile sealing gasket that resists chemical breakdown is common to all three, so the valve arrangement tracks the part number rather than the finish.
Put plainly, a chrome number matches its black counterpart on every published line except the height of EAOM103C. Choosing between the two finishes is a decision about how the mount looks and about which part numbers exist, not a decision about filtration performance.
Wrenches, service timing, and warranty terms
The housings are fluted for easier removal. A 65-67 mm filter wrench, GA255, fits EAOM103C, and a 76 mm wrench, GA251, fits EAOM134C and EAOM135C, both on a 3/8 in. square drive for filters mounted where a strap wrench will not go. Match the wrench to the part number, because a 76 mm cap has nothing to grip on a 2.67 in. housing.
Service timing follows the oil. A fresh filter goes on at every oil change, on whatever drain interval the vehicle manufacturer publishes for your machine, and the chrome finish does not move that schedule any more than the media does. No separate interval is published for the chrome line, so filter and oil come out of the machine together.
Coverage runs to defects in material and workmanship, provided the filter is properly installed and stays within the service life recommended by AMSOIL INC. or the engine or equipment manufacturer. Where a filter proves defective, the remedy is a replacement filter or a credit for the price of one, and AMSOIL will at its own option and cost repair or replace components to the extent damage was solely attributable to a defect in the filter. Racing and any manned aircraft or aviation application void coverage outright.

Questions about AMSOIL Chrome Oil Filter
No. The housing changes appearance and, on EAOM103C, overall height. Media, 99% efficiency at 20 microns under ISO 4548-12, the 11 to 17 psi bypass relief valve, and the nitrile sealing gasket all match the black equivalents.
EAOM103C. It is the only chrome number whose application list names ATVs and UTVs. The official vehicle lookup still confirms whether it matches your make, model, year, and engine. EAOM134C and EAOM135C cover motorcycles, lawn tractors, and power equipment instead.
No. The chrome line publishes three part numbers and EAOM109 is not among them, so machines that take its M20X1.0 thread have no chrome option. EAOM103C uses an M20X1.5 thread on the same 20 mm diameter, which is a different pitch.
About 0.15 in. EAOM103C stands 2.69 in. tall against 2.54 in. for EAOM103, and measures 2.67 in. across against 2.68 in. Both list an M20X1.5 thread and share the same gasket, so vertical clearance around the mount is the detail worth checking before the taller shell goes on.
A 65-67 mm wrench, GA255, is the match for EAOM103C, and a 76 mm wrench, GA251, is the match for EAOM134C and EAOM135C. Both use a 3/8 in. square drive intended for filters mounted in hard-to-reach locations, and the size follows the part number rather than the finish.
Racing use and any manned aircraft or aviation application are excluded outright. So is fitting the wrong filter, and so is keeping the correct filter in service beyond the life recommended in writing by AMSOIL INC. or the original equipment manufacturer. Improper installation, abuse or damage, and use in mechanically deficient equipment are excluded as well.
